Power and Solace

‘Power and Solace’, the first online exhibition of the artist with the gallery, celebrates Burger’s psychological journey through the power and solace of art-making, resulting in a series of spontaneous and playful landscapes and self-portraits reflecting a renewed sense of freedom of expression.

Stemming from Burger’s meditative practices such as active visualization, reflective writing and incantation of mantras, this body of work expresses the artist’s journey through a process of self-reflection and empowerment.

Burgers’ work offers the viewer a similar journey of exploration, resolution and calm which she finds here herself.

Weaving, Knotting, Stitching: A Synthesis of Disparate Things

This exhibition challenges traditional expectations of art mediums like tapestry weaving and quilting, exploring new creative territories. Artists use unconventional materials such as rope, blankets, and wool to create sculptural forms, unraveling ideas of identity and self. Through tactile works, the showcase offers fluidity of form and structure, deconstructing and reconstructing everyday materials. Artists shift between historic, personal, and pop-cultural themes, diverging from traditional figurative imagery often associated with tapestries.
